These images are a small piece of a continually evolving collection of street shots. In a city environment I generally shoot from the hip to remain inconspicuous, so the aim and focus has become intuitive. Shooting in this style has allowed me to find something more organic in a technical and utilitarian machine. Capturing these images is a very spontaneous act, and they represent a fleeting moment that only a few people noticed, or perhaps only one.
What I enjoy most about these street images is there is a wide area for interpretation. Each viewer will take something slightly different from the next. For me a whole story evolves with each image. Why was that person there at that exact place and time? What is the body language representing? What is the intent? And most importantly, what does this person’s presence at this exact moment mean to us? I feel that the inanimate objects underscore the sentiments evoked by the human subjects.
